Dr. Lokesh Venkataramu is a General Surgeon with expertise in open and laparoscopic surgeries. He holds an MBBS from Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre and an MS in General Surgery from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. With five years of experience, he has managed trauma cases, acute abdominal conditions, and a range of surgical procedures.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Venkataramu served at Sri Sri Pitambardev Goswami District Hospital in Majuli, Assam, where he provided surgical care to underserved communities and contributed to flood relief efforts. Proficient in Kannada, English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Assamese, he ensures effective communication with patients. Dr. Venkataramu places a strong emphasis on patient education and counselling to support informed healthcare decisions.

Roles

• Teaching Responsibilities: Conducts undergraduate medical education (MBBS) teaching in General Surgery, including bedside clinics, ward rounds, and surgical case presentations.
• Clinical and Academic Leadership: Actively participates in academic curriculum development, postgraduate clinical training and mentorship, and departmental coordination of academic schedules.
• Research Involvement: Engaged in multiple investigator-initiated research projects focusing on perioperative care, and emergency surgical protocols. Involved in designing prospective studies, conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and mentoring students in short-term research schemes such as ICMR STS.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Serves as an examiner and evaluator for undergraduate theory and practical examinations.
• Professional Development: Contributes to organising Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, surgical workshops, and interdisciplinary seminars to foster academic growth within the department.
