Department Overview :-
o Medical Oncology is a super-specialty in cancer care which deals with Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Hormonal Therapy and Targeted Therapy to treat cancer in an effective manner.
o We work as a team towards preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer by offering the most advanced and evidence-based treatment protocols and customized multi-modality therapies.
o We strive to merge the vital aspects of patient care through maintenance of quality of life, palliation, life prolongation and cure by understanding cancer development, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention
Highlights
o We are offering Five NMC (National Medical Council) accredited DM program (3 years) in Medical Oncology since 2016. We are enrolling five students every year and our previous graduate’s alumni are well placed as successful oncologists in various parts of the country.
o Apart from its focus on academics, the department is known for its involvement in the inter-departmental Tumor Board (Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Pathology and Medical Oncology) and Hematology Board (Pediatrics, Pathology and Medical Oncology).
o In collaboration with the University of Illinois, the department has created a state-of-the-art Stem cell and Cellular therapy unit at the Ramaiah Memorial Hospital featuring latest technology driven apheresis machines and advanced lab equipment, dedicated hematopathologist and HEPA filtered treatment rooms.
o The Ramaiah Hospitals, center for Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, is a globally recognized, FACT-accredited center offering comprehensive adult and pediatric autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Supported by advanced stem cell processing, apheresis, HEPA-filtered transplant suites, multidisciplinary expertise, international collaboration with the University of Illinois Chicago, and world-class quality standards, the unit delivers safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care for complex hematological disorders and blood cancers
o FACT (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) accreditation is the internationally recognized gold standard for bone marrow transplantation, demonstrating excellence in patient safety, quality management, laboratory practices, clinical care, and continuous quality improvement while ensuring the highest standards of transplant outcomes and patient-centered care.

We provide well rounded clinical training in Medical Oncology including Hematology and stem cell therapy with emphasis on developing ability to independently manage all stages of cancer management including initial diagnostic work up, intensive anti-cancer treatment, and palliative care, so students can potentially become future leaders in Academics, clinical services and research.
