GOKULA EDUCATION FOUNDATION (MEDICAL)
Sri M.S. Ramaiah - a noted entrepreneur, industrialist and philosopher dreamt of our nation's progress through quality education. He envisioned 'Gnanagangotri - Spring of Knowledge' to educate the masses. The pillars of growth in a country are the professionally trained manpower. To further this cause of professional education, The Gokula Education Foundation (GEF) was established in 1962. The institution aims to create a global education community of conscientious individuals who have developed their intellectual, artistic and professional talents to the highest degree and live their lives inspiring others around them, to overcome odds and work in unison to bring positive change in the society. The trust currently has under its umbrella 17 institutions, which cater to various streams in engineering, Medical and General Sciences. With the total student strength exceeding 8000, the GEF continues to strive to provide top quality teaching in a stimulating and supportive environment for its students.
M.S.Ramaiah Campus set on sprawling 400 acres of land, is an institution wholly dedicated to the cause of learning. The various programmes offered by GEF under Health Sciences include Medical, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dental and Pharmacy. The MSU International Medical School is a unique-regional collaborative effort between the Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia and the Gokula Education Foundation (Medical), Bangalore, to offer undergraduate programme leading to MBBS on GEF (M) campus in Bangalore for Malaysian students.
The Physiotherapy program at GEF was founded in 1996 and it is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and it is governed by the Department of Medical Education (DME), state of Karnataka, India. Furthermore the program embraces and follows the Guidelines from the Indian Association of Physiotherapy (IAP). The first postgraduate program was offered in 2002 and it is of a 2 year length, according to regulations set out by the RGUHS. The program operates in a way that students are spending half a day for 2 years in the classrooms and the rest working on the wards and outpatient departments of the affiliated memorial hospital. This program has an extensive and comprehensive clinical component which strengthens the employability of its graduates.
